Sam McKnight

Tour

Somerset House

What a inspiring and beautiful and imaginative exhibition.

Sam McKnight for years has been blessing catwalk shows, magazine companies, celebrities with innovating hair styles for many years he is very well respected in the fashion industry for stylised signature styles. Starting his career in a small town in Ireland he has always been passionate about hair styling, colouring hair. Assisting people to find their creative side, wild side or giving them a new look he can definitely work some magic.

Hairstyling is not easy but how Sam McKnight works makes it look like a breeze. He has a set structure for all his styles and a keen eye for detail he has a well established styling history from styling iconic idols such as Princess Diana they had such a great relationship and this was shown throughout his exhibition in Somerset House not just a professional relationship they had a personal one, to which they could send on small talk letters. Princess Diana was able to express herself in a way no royal had ever done before this started with a slicked gelled hair. Yes you heard me gelled right back a look what was seen as masculine and associated with teddy boys Jimmy Stewart was iconic for a immaculate slicked look.

Since then Sam has expanded his celebrity hairstyling list to pop icons such as Lady GaGa, Bowie and many others.

Kate Moss was privileged to be style by one of best hair stylists known to the United Kingdom throughout her early years of her modelling career to now being a face for the advertising of the Somerset House exhibition and having a central positioning with his timeline in the exhibition.

The Exhibition is done in a non-linear order. The exhibition begins with a poster of Kate Moss at the front of the enterance highlighting there will be celebrity in endorsement and the audience is in for a treat. Continuing the journey through theres this wig position central above from desk and a vynl print of Hair

I am truly grateful I was able to get a private view to this exhibition as I have a MASSIVE interest in curation but I'm also undertaking my own project on Hair and Identity.
