Changing Fashion Norms

Ashish studied at MA saint martins on a Fashion degree his always been a person who is interested in culture and making a change showing people who are less represented in within the fashion industry.

Ashish has shown that he is not scared of being different he quite subtle with it. In regards to his personality, he is a very humble person but his style of clothing screams I am of an ethnicity which is under-represented in the fashion industry but I am here to stay.

I LOVE IT.

“My current work was influenced by Brexit “Ashish … Ashish wanted to show there is lots of different culture makes up British culture and has done his by making this shows diverse in race.

“British culture is a makeup of exchange throughout history” - Ashish

Q. Did you feel passionate?

A.I didn’t think about the impact until it happens - Yess I’m an immigrant highlighting the fact but …I’m not less human. I felt like a number needed to brought down. - Contributing to the economy

Q. Was you surprised by the response?

A. I was, there was a large affect, people wanted to own that word and highlight it.

Ash - “ T-shirt was not intentional just a statement”

Ash -Instagram is independent not relying on people… no validation is needed.

Q. Are you frustrated by diversity?

A. It’s strange when there only loads white and blonde girl and one black girl

Q. What does diversity mean? -

A. It shouldn’t even be a word.

“ We been dragged back 50years with trump” - Ashish

I can definitely agree to disagree with this statement from Ashish I feel it has brought some people back into the past and drained their confidence and will to stride forward, but .... personally, we have to stick together as a worldwide family and overcome diversity and start lifting on another up with things were passionate about.

Ashish thoughts

My works a Lovefest - collections describe as. Find love within yourself and use as strength.

Q. Culture appropriation?

A. “Wasn't something I had in mind - the idea of the hair is to look like “clouds” and candy floss not the psychical hair style ( the hair was to match the outfit)

“If you're worried about culture app don’t eat Chinese or Indian food.”- Ashish

I personally was really interested in the style of clothing and hair as I was curious as to why the hair resembled afro hair. Was the hair style in mind before or after the cloud like concept. I have always been interested in hairstyle from different culture backgrounds and found it was nice that there wasn't any bad intention when styling these models.

Staying humble.
