Exhibition Review

Dana Lixenberg (born 1964) she is a Dutch photographer and filmmaker, who has published multiple books (The Last Days of Shishmaref, Set Amsterdam and De Burgemeester, Indiana) any many others.

The project was a series of Black and White Photographs taken from 90's - 20th century the photographs consist of Documentary styled portraits of Black individuals and families in South Central Los Angeles. The body of work is a collaboration between the photographer and her subject showing the changing of faces within the neighbourhood.

The photographs are beautifully as a A1size print Silver print paper. The images doesn't lack detail each pore and hair folicle is as clear as daylight.

The dedication take to create this body of work is amazing Dana has worked with gaining trust with these individuals to document a inclosed community. This project gives me inspiration as a young artist that sticking to one subject is not a bad thing the work may not be what you expect in the end result.
